CASHMERE

Tavy Tavy cashmere is made from the fine, downy undercoat of goats. We create long-term relationships with a multi-generational family farm in Nepal, where changeable weather has evolved goats with longer, loftier, and softer fibers. Those fibers are harvested once each year in the spring, typically combed by hand. This produces the highest-quality fibers, which are washed, carded, and spun into sumptuous two-ply yarns twisted to resist pilling without compromising strength.

The cashmere arrives to us un-dyed and unbleached. We use all natural ingredients from the earth to hand dye our beautiful eco-cashmere. We use less water and no chemicals in our dyeing process, which takes place in our eco-friendly, solar-powered studio space.

With proper care, your cashmere scarf will last for years and years.

JEWELRY

Our jewelry is made from recycled bronze, sterling silver, and 14k gold fill, all of which are 100% nickel free.

BRONZE

I am proud to use a yellow bronze alloy for all my bronze pieces, giving them a beautiful golden tone similar to 14k yellow gold. Both bronze and brass are alloys of copper. The high copper content in brass and bronze can cause it to darken over time. This is primarily due to a reaction to water and humidity. Some people, depending on their personal PH balance, experience a green coloring to the skin when it comes in contact with bronze and brass. This is perfectly harmless and is due to the copper content.  If you prefer to avoid the dark patina to the metal, try to keep your bronze and brass as dry as possible. Take your ring off when washing your hands and dry your hands thoroughly before putting your ring back on. You can also coat the inside of the ring with a clear nail polish. This will form a barrier between your skin and the ring. If tarnish begins to occur, a Sunshine Cloth can be used for touch ups. For a bright shine, it is easiest to use a commercial polish like Brasso to restore your piece to its original luster.

GOLD FILL

I use gold fill in some of my chains, clasps, and ear wires. Gold fill is made when a layer of gold is fused to a core of base metal. The gold in gold fill is 50 to 100,000 times thicker than gold plating. The gold fill I use is nickel free. You can also use a Sunshine Cloth on gold fill, but it’s best used gently and sparingly.

STERLING SILVER

Sterling silver is a bright and beautiful precious metal with a long life span. The more you love and wear your sterling silver the more bright and shiny it stays. Tarnish can occur when sterling silver comes in contact with the oxygen in the air. If you are not wearing your sterling silver pieces every day, it is best to store in a resealable plastic bag or airtight container. If you do see some tarnishing, you can polish it with a jewelry polishing cloth. I recommend a Sunshine Cloth to brighten it right up!
